This pine needle basket is a fair trade product from a Mayan weaving group in Guatemala. It is as useful as it is beautiful, and is sturdy enough for daily use. Handwoven from pajon grass, pine needles and raffia, it is round, about 11" in diameter and is 2" deep. It displays well on a wall. Because each basket is handmade, the one you receive may vary slightly from the one in the image, although it will be very similar. It includes an information card with the name of the weaver on it.
About the brand: Founded in 1989, Mayan Hands is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is guided by fair trade principles coupled with high quality standards, and is a long-time Fair Trade Federation member. Mayan Hands partners with over 200 textile and basket weavers in rural communities in the western and northern Guatemala highlands.
