This pine needle and wild grass trivet is a fair trade product from a Mayan weaving group in Guatemala. It is as fragrant as it is beautiful, and is sturdy enough for daily use. Hand woven from pine needles, raffia, and wild grass, it is round and features shades of brown, natural, and pale green. The green will change over time to a soft golden color. It is about 10" in diameter and .25" deep, and includes an information card with the name of the weaver on it. Because each trivet is handmade, the one you receive may vary slightly from the one in the image, although it will be very similar.
About the brand: Founded in 1989, Mayan Hands is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is guided by fair trade principles coupled with high quality standards, and is a long-time Fair Trade Federation member. Mayan Hands partners with over 200 textile and basket weavers in rural communities in the western and northern Guatemala highlands.
