African Straw Fans

While you're gearing up for the warmer weather ahead maybe, opt to cool off with a West African handwoven fan made from straw and leather. These fans are a fair trade product from the Bolgantanga region of northern Ghana in West Africa. Perfect for catering to your needs on a hot day, and can be used as an art piece as there's a loop on the end for hanging. The manufacturer of these fans, African Market Baskets, is a small business located in Boulder, Colorado that works closely with weavers to ensure fair conditions and wages. It is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and Green America, and donates 10% of its profits to Every Basket Helps, a non-profit working to alleviate poverty in northern Ghana. An excellent mission with the proceeds and great purpose for the customer, our fans are not to be missed this coming summer.
