This small African basket, also called a Bolga Market Basket, is a miniature version of our popular market basket. It is round with a single leather handle and makes a charming child's basket, Easter basket, or gift basket. It is 10" in diameter and about 6" deep, excluding the handle.
Each basket is unique, so there is only one available of the basket shown in the image.
To clean or re-shape a Bolga basket, simply wet it with cool water, clean and shape it as needed with your hands, and allow it to air dry.
Bolga baskets are handcrafted in farming communities in the Bolgatanga area of Ghana in West Africa. They are are among the best known African baskets because of their versatility and durability. They are woven from elephant grass, the leather handles are made from goat skin, and their production has a minimal impact on the environment. All of our Bolga baskets are sourced according to fair trade principles.
About the brand: Bolga Zaare is a small business based in Spokane, Washington that imports handmade baskets from the Bolgatanga region of Ghana. The founder also owns Refugee Bath Company, which hires resettled refugees to make bath bombs.
