This fair trade shopping tote is striking and durable. It has a round bottom with an ark-shaped top, and two round, upright goat skin handles. This beautiful handwoven Bolga basket is approximately 16" end to end, 10" wide, and 12" deep in the middle 14" deep on the ends (not including the handles). It is often used as a beach shopping tote, or for storing rolled up towels and other household items. It works great as a farmers market basket!

To clean or re-shape your Bolga basket, simply wet it with cool water, clean and shape it as needed (use mild soap only and avoid wetting the leather), and allow it to air dry. You should wet the basket about once a year to hydrate the straw and keep it supple.
This basket was made in the Bolgatanga region of Ghana, in West Africa. Its shape helps prevent objects from falling out, and its wide, round bottom gives it a large capacity.
